From the Canyon Church in Anaheim Hills, California we are pleased to present this sermon, It Is Finished, by Mark Kercheville.

Drawing from his studies of the Gospel accounts of how Jesus gave up His spirit upon completion of the atonement for sin, brother Mark reminds us of the difference between the High Priest of the Old Covenant, who’s work was never done, and Jesus, the perfect High Priest, who utterly and eternally completed atonement on the Cross by living a perfect, sinless life; fulfilling all prophesies concerning the redemptive work of the Messiah; completely disarming Satan’s power; opening the way to Heaven for all mankind; and completely paying the debt for sins of all people everywhere. The debt was paid in full. It is finished! After His work, as Hebrews 1:3 states, He sat down at the Father’s right hand.

Praise God that we are saved by Grace through Faith in Jesus Christ.

Approaching Jesus in unconventional ways.

From Mark 2:1-5

Using the story of the paralytic man let down through a roof by his friends in order to get to Jesus, Chris Spitters of the First Church of God in St. Joseph, MI. encourages us to explore the preaching and teaching strategies of Jesus, and discover ways to make room for others to come to the Lord.

Using Luke 9:57-62 as the basis, brother Paul Hansen delivers a concise lesson on the necessity of perseverance in following Christ. Jesus used a powerful and poignant metaphor, the plowman, to explain to the people around him about pressing toward the goal. Brother Hansen draws our own attention to the skill of modern farmers to plow a straight line, row after row by fixing their eyes on a distant point or landmark; and by keeping their eye on that mark they press on toward the goal as described by the Apostle Paul in Philippians 3:13-14.

This timeless sermon was originally preached at the Mira Loma church of Christ on August 18, 1996 during the morning service.

Part of a three sermon series given at the Canyon Church in Anaheim, CA. the weekend of May 3rd & 4th 2008, “Purity of Doctrine” is the final lesson of the series given by Mike Rosser of The church at Winsted Hill in Franklin, Tennessee. This sermon is intended especially for those young people heading off to college, and a call to “Continue to live in Him… as you were taught” as found in Colossians 2:6-7. Brother Mike explores the subject of “world views”, explaining that our belief system is our world view, and determines how we think about the world and events around us. Young people going off to college are likely to face serious challenges, and Mike exhorts them to consider what they believe and why they believe it in order to stand against the popular notion that all belief systems are equal.

To be pure in doctrine is to keep things the way that God designed them to be, and therefore we must always ask ourselves: What does God want us to think about; to meditate upon?

Using the analogy of a man in prison, the prison of sin, Tom Degeneffe examines Romans 5:1-2 and explores the deep meaning of “being justified by faith”, and how “we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” as foreshadowed in the Old Covenant, and fulfilled in the New Covenant by the sacrifice and finished work of Jesus. The concepts of being pardoned and being acquitted in our own justice system are explored, and Brother Tom explains that rather than being pardoned – being excused of an offense, those in Christ are acquitted – discharged completely; not guilty; justified.

Tom is a gifted teacher; able to communicate profound theological concepts of the New Covenant in an easy to understand manner that blesses the listener with insights into the “deeper things of God”. We will be featuring more sermons by him in the future, as we believe that people everywhere will be greatly strengthened, edified, and fed by his study of God’s Word. This sermon was preached during the Sunday evening service at Mira Loma church of Christ on Dec. 28 1997.

This is a wonderful sermon to listen to over and over again, and to share with your loved-ones and friends. The Word of Promise: New Testament Audio BibleMany Christians have audio Bibles (on tape, CDs, etc.); which is a wonderful way to stay in the Word while driving, or relaxing. A couple months ago our family became aware of a new product that we were instantly exited about from Thomas Nelson Publishers called The Word of Promise: New Testament Audio Bible, faithfully rendered in the NKJV.

This product is described as “Audio Theater”, or “Theater of the Mind” and is exactly that! Produced by Carl Amari – a man that grew up with a love of both the Bible and Radio Theater; he has accomplished an audio Bible that will overwhelm the listener with a sense of awe that that traditional audio Bible productions have lacked. The cast is both large, and full of notable actors; instead of one man reading the scriptures this product is comprised of actors playing each part. The recording is full of sound effects that really do bring the story to life in such a way that you may find it difficult to stop listening to it. In fact, I have found myself spending extra time in the car because I don’t want to turn the CD player off! The package is a 20 CD set, plus a DVD featuring the making of The Word of Promise: New Testament Audio Bible, and cast interviews. We at The ASOM could not recommend this product more highly; it’s purpose is our purpose: To get people into the Word of God. What a powerful tool this is!

Thankfully, Mr. Amari is hard at work on the Old Testament right now.

The Deity of ChristThis classic sermon by the late Dann Walker was preached in January of 1989 at the old Fairview church of Christ in southern California. Brother Walker was a powerful preacher, and this take on the three L’s argument will surely be useful in further equipping the saints in their apologetics when defending, or expounding the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ.

This is the very first sermon posted on Sermon Select Online. Join Paul Hansen as he takes you on a journey to the valley where David’s faith in the Living God propelled a simple shepherd boy – armed with the full armor of God to the great defender of Israel! Recorded May 18, 2003 at the Mira Loma church of Christ in California, this sermon was a favorite of the congregation there. With the recollections from Brother Hansen’s trip to the very spot where scholars believe the battle took place, this will surely be one of your favorites too.

However, if they are in similar shape we can drastically improve them in order to preserve the spoken word. This informative broadcast (podcast) is almost 14 minutes long, so grab a cup of coffee and consider how your church could benefit from our services.
